Welcome to Health Buzz By Dot.

I’m glad that you have decided to join me. My goal is to educate those who believe, or are coming to believe that food is medicine and medicine is food. Therefore, this site addresses the health risks associated with the foods we love to eat, the importance of exercise, and
healthy food alternatives. Check out my monthly
articles that have been published by the Middle

Go Red and Go Beyond February

February 2022

February is known nationally as heart month. Credible sources such as the American Heart Association and the CDC cite heart disease as the number one killer of women in the United States. The term “cardiovascular disease” refers to stroke and heart attacks. Since the symptoms of heart disease are often different for women, the American Heart Association created the “Go Red” slogan to bring attention to women’s issues. Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) kills more people than all the cancers combined. According to the American Heart Association, Cardiovascular Diseases kill nearly 50,000 African American Women annually. Black women, regardless of socio-economic status, lead in poor health statistics of obesity and hypertension. While some of the CVD is related to genetics and family history, too many heart attacks and strokes come from a lack of knowledge or from myths that we need to discredit.
